Re: Pietenpol vertical wing strut support.

Hi Ed, here in the UK the LAA specify jury stuts on the front lift strut only. Unfortunately I cannot access my drawings currently as we are in the process of moving. Once I get done I will scan and post for you.

Re: Pietenpol vertical wing strut support.

In the UK we must have front jury struts only of the oval tube variety.

Re: Centre section flop

Hi Taildrags and Richard, sorry for my slow reply but haven't been well for a while and am now about to move so my project is all packed up. Thanks for the info you've presented, it's most useful and I will apply it all once I am back to building late this year. I'll post a photo of my progress then...

Re: Centre section flop

Hi taildrags
Thanks for your advice, I hadn't considered the flop fouling when opened, thanks for the heads up. I take it you have a ledge around the underside of the cutout for the flop to sit on, if so was this added after fabric or what and is it wood or metal?
Thannks again.

Centre section flop

'Scuse the English spelling. Has anyone built a centre section cut out with a flop?
I'd like some ideas on how to secure the flop for flight using presumably some form of spring catch or sprung bolt please, pics or drawings gratefully received.

Re: Questions for wing assembly

Pietenpolers Thanks for your replies, I've only just got around to setting up the CS on planed wooden bearers to keep it all off the jig table. I've squared the CS using a 4ft trammel, Pythagoras calculations on 2 opposite corners, set the spar distances apart equally each end and for level. I guess...

Questions for wing assembly

I've procrastinated long enough as terrified starting wing assembly so I need some advice so I can move on, I'm building the 3 piece built up spar (Jim Wills) wing. I've read Chris Barley's (UK) wing notes and anything else I can find generally on the subject but still have questions so here is a li...

Re: Where are the Piet Folks...?

I'm in good ole Blighty, England to you guys, started building about 5 or so years ago but haven't got very far. Some of you may remember me and my beautiful wife Helen visiting the Brodhead Reunion in 2011? I decided to start on the wings which for us Brits means building the Jim Wills 3 piece lami...
