Re: Actual Empty Weight of Pietenpol
Here's the link to the video I was referring to above regarding the leading edge. This builder chose to go with the Riblett airfoil. https://youtu.be/x_gGrvXM2cQ?list=PLRJi ... bhJID0GqFn

Re: Actual Empty Weight of Pietenpol
I saw a video series where a builder fabricated rounded rib nose pieces that he attached to each rib and then wrapped the leading edge with plywood vs. creating the leading edge with a board. Seemed easy and light without sacrificing strength. Thoughts?

Re: Actual Empty Weight of Pietenpol
Might be worthwhile to reach out to Pietenpol and Corvair engine guru William Wynn. He has developed a Piet W&B manual and will provide help to builders. Take a look at this page: https://flycorvair.net/2019/08/14/pietenpol-weight-and-balance-inputs-for-configuration-calculation/ He discusses th...

Not a direct answer to your question (although I'm glad you asked it) but if you have a Facebook account I noticed that the Pietenpol page over there is way more active than here or Matronics. You might get more answers and quicker over there.

You know things like, steel tube landing gear vs wood, long fuse vs short, battery and electrical system, instruments, tail wheel vs skid...

Thanks for the info Oscar! Are you aware of anyone running some type of fuel pump vs a pure gravity fed system?

Wing vs Fuse fuel tank for Corvair powered Piet
Title kinda says it all, but what are the pros and cons of each? Is there a majority that favors one over the other? Bear in mind I don't even have a set of plans yet so this is just one of a million questions that I have after spending hours on various Air Camper forums, web sties, and YouTube.

Re: ELT Antenna
Your inspector was correct. For new installations an ELT has to meet TSO 129 (aka a 406mhz ELT) IAW 91.207 and AC 91-44A. 121.5mhz ELTs (TSO C91a) are still legal for existing installations but those days are numbered.
