Wheel parts list question
Regarding the first column labeled FIG. and number 4 there. It says cone bearing and in Column B two required. Makes sense. I see one on the outside and one on the inside of the wheel. Why, though, is #2 (cup bearing) in the FIG. column listed two separate times and each says one required (so two to...

You would most likely feel more confident and proud in a plane you built completely from scratch. It sounds like several issues make you uneasy, and rightfully so. The fabric would need to be removed to examine the entire wing structure just for your own piece of mind. As far as the fuselage, you so...

Drilling the gear barrels
Per plans, I drilled 1/4" holes through the barrel hinges for the landing gear (split gear), then welded it all. Everything was fine. I then drilled those holes (on aircraft right) to 5/16", per plans, but the alignment was lost. I had to make six new barrels on that side and re-weld to th...

Here's the William Wynn article: https://flycorvair.net/2013/12/19/pietenpol-fuel-lines-and-cabanes/ The highlights: In the photo, you can see the diagonal cabanes on my plane were 5/8″ diameter, with small adjustable ends. From the many photos I've seen, it appears the prevailing method is to cut away the bottom of the V and fit the axle there. Is it actually the axle there, or is it a slightly larger tube with the axle inserted? I'll put the rim on to see how much axle needs to extend from the V. The axle is 1.5"...

So, does that mean I have to run a board down the center of the belly? Or can the fabric just run across from the bottom longerons (I don't need the board)?

Thanks. Was wondering about the varnish to use on the belly. Out of sight areas with no fabric involved I'll probably use Helmsman Spar varnish. For sections exposed to elements (sun), visible and in contact with fabric, will use Stewart Systems EkoSeal.
