metal parts

I'm trying to find a machine shop that can fabricate metal parts for the Pietenpol. I was hoping someone could point me in the direction.

It makes no difference to me where they're located.

Thanks,

Rudder cables

Could someone please describe how you threaded the rudder cable from the rudder pedals to the rudder. A picture would be better, of course, but at this point I'm not picky. Seems such a simple task, but I know my solution is severely lacking.

Thanks, very much!

Re: Wing leading edge

Thank you very much, Dan! You confirmed my thoughts; I saw no other way, but because I'm new at this, I was hoping there was another way.

Again, thank you!

Wing leading edge

I have progressed to the point of building the center piece of a 3-piece wing. I need help with how to shape the leading edge. How did you do it?

Thanks,

Structural integrity

The fuselage is nearly complete, minus any metal parts - no landing gear, etc. How can I test the integrity of the build at this point? I'm satisfied that it is square where it should be, and level where it should be. The reinforcement pieces, plywood sides, etc. are in place. It's sitting on sawhor...

Re: Trailing edge, Rudder

Dan, I apologize for asking, but I would love to see how you formed the top of the vertical stabilizer. The craftsmanship displayed in your photos is a level I'll never achieve, but you've given me something to shoot for. I especially appreciate the way you incorporated the gussets in the corners of...

Re: Trailing edge, Rudder

Dan, thank you very much. Your pictures cleared up a lot for me. Your workmanship, too, is a level of accomplishment that I hope to match.

Again, thank you for your time and effort.

Trailing edge, Rudder

The plans (from Pietenpol) indicate the trailing edge of the rudder is made from 5/8 X 1 1/4 spruce. The plans also indicate that routing of 1/16" should be performed on each side, leaving the width at 1/2". My question is simply, if the top and bottom pieces of the rudder begin as 1"...
