Re: New Weight & Balance Manual To Be Available At Brodhead

I received mine in the mail and read the articles. I found myself thinking "good point" and " will have to make sure I factor that in when I build my gear and mount my wings". Worth every penny

Different Main Landing Gear

I was looking at the plane on the back of the most recent BPA magazine. It appears to have a J3 landing gear. I'm looking for feedback as to why or why not use this gear. There are several sources of gear legs and other parts. I just ordered a copy of the W & B book so I hope to be able to sort ...

Re: Waterjetting

Thanks for all the great information and ideas. Icarusair is down the road from me so will probably use them, especially if they can remove the tabs. I like the idea of the square tubing. If they can't/won't removing them shouldn't be difficult. Thanks again for all the information.

I'm building at 6TN1 about halfway between Nashville and Clarksville. There is another gentleman restoring one a few miles away.

Waterjetting

Has anyone waterjetted the various metal parts? I was thinking of using this for the parts that must be repeated like the control horns, parts of the gear, motor mount attachment fittings and a few other. Additionally is there anyone that has already digitized the drawings and would be willing to sh...

Re: Wing Finishing Advice

When I built my Horizon II I used 1/16" plywood and scarfed the joints which I had over a rib. I "pre rolled" the leading edge over some PVC pipe after soaking it overnight then letting it dry. It came out well and still holding up some 15 years later. I've haven't heard of a poster b...

Re: Corsair Engine

Thanks Terry. I wasn't looking for a dollar value. The engine mount is not from a Pietenpol-maybe a KR, the exhaust and intake manifold are questionable. The carb although a good model requires overhaul. So basically I am looking at a core with a few extra parts one of which is a propeller. If the l...

Corsair Engine

Good morning. I am looking at an engine that is reported to be from a Pietenpol. I am trying to determine what value it might have. So what length/pitch prop have folks found best? It doesn’t have a 5th bearing , has a Marvel MA3SPA carb. Thanks in advance for your help. It is a 65-68 90 horsepower ...

Fuselage Cross Members

I started the project in Jan and just finished rib # 12. I've been looking ahead at the fuselage-the long wooden version. I don't see a drawing that shows where the cross members go. Looking at the original fuselage drawing it appears they go under the vertical members. This would move the landing g...
