building confidence

I decided to type a little update on the Jeepenpol, (Jeep powered Pietenpol) for those not knowing. I recently flew to my nearest airport, a 20 mile flight to fuel up and start a fuel burn test. I have now flown 1 hour since that flight so I can top off the tank and see how much fuel I burned. I hav...

Re: Spring landing gear

I built the spring gear on the Jeepepol, I got most of the information to build my off the William Wynne website. He had built one for a customers Pietenpol that they were re-powering with a corvair, and the old bungee system kinda splayed out with the extra weight. He has a very interesting and inf...

Re: Control cable slack

I know that some folks add a small spring attatched to the top cable behind the pilot seat between there and the bell crank . It is just to take up the slack as the cable is moved. I ...

The Jeepenpol is ready for another test flight

I have spent the last few days making more modifications to the Jeepenpol. I finished my new propeller and did a job I have been avoiding all winter and that was to turn a new prop hub out of a large chunk of aluminum on my lathe. I have been testing and using a hub I made out of three pieces of ste...

Re: Ramblings of an idiot

Thanks for the nice words. To answer your questions, The engine is turning almost 2200 in flight full power. The propeller is just over 63 inches long with a 32 pitch. The propeller is quite broad , I used a Hamilton standard 2D30 blade as a pattern , sized down of course. I believe there is quite a...

Ramblings of an idiot

I have been planning to call my DAR and bite the bullet and see if I can get this thing certified, classified, simonized , circiumsized, ect. I have been doing some experimentation on the basic set up and it seems I will still have to do some more. My horsepower at this time is too weak to make the ...

Re: Where are the Piet Folks Based...?

Hey Robert , I live across the state from you near Jonesboro. I too waited a long time to build, I just turned 61 and just finished my pietenpol this past Sept, It took me almost 3 years and that is probably a little quicker than most . I am a crop-duster and farmer by trade so I have a lot of free ...
