Re: Fueslage Modifications For Diffrent Engines.
Since no one else has answered, I will try and give you some information. I am still building so I am not a flyer - yet. What is the weight of your proposed engine? That is your biggest issue, making sure that it weighs a reasonable amount. Second, you will have to fabricate your own engine mount an...

I am not yet flying, but that is essentially what I did. I sacrificed the aft end of two extra ribs I had made, and made what you call a "shorty rib." Seems to have worked.

Brian, I spoke to the tech guy at Poly Fiber a few weeks ago about this same subject of varnishes to use. He said that there is definitely an issue, as Clay said, with Polyfiber products reacting with products like spar varnish. He did say, though that if you have already used spar varnish (like me)...

Re: Beg,Borrow or Steal or even purchase a good Rib Jig?
Oscar, I will write it up and send it in to Pat. And yes, after the T88 had dried overnight, I would take my spatula from the dollar store (the kind you would use for flipping pancakes), slowly go around the edges til the rib "popped off" the jig. I would then flip the half-finished rib ov...

With cheap Harbor Freight clamps, I was able to build my...

It is very nice of BPA to have a jig to loan, but I would encourage you to build your own. You may need it again, and they really are not hard to make. I made three (yes, it took three to get to one I liked, but I learned in the process). The last one was made from MDF and small nails for aligning t...

Oscar, The front spar is 5.683" and the rear spar is 4.625" due to the smaller space. I would have had to "force" the taller spar into the rear position (Dan Sheridan used the taller spars for both and it fit fine, he said - must be that he has a better jig than I do ;0P ), and I...

And to add to Tom's comments - P.F.'s aircraft has the Pietenpol airfoil but with VGs (vortex generators) added, so it is not a true Pietenpol airfoil. For that reason I think that people make more of the overall comparison than it deserves. Not to say that P.F. and Don's analysis has NO value. It i...

To add to Rick's comments - I am not flying yet (still building) and Rick is, so his practical advice certainly trumps my theoretical thoughts.
