Good morning. I am looking at an engine that is reported to be from a Pietenpol. I am trying to determine what value it might have. So what length/pitch prop have folks found best? It doesn’t have a 5th bearing , has a Marvel MA3SPA carb. Thanks in advance for your help. It is a 65-68 90 horsepower engine

It may have a lot of value, or it may have little to no value, depending on who did the build up and how it was done. How many hours on the engine? When was it built up? Who maintained it? Records? Do you have the serial numbers of the heads? Are they the right heads? I am not trying to be a jerk, but what I am trying to tell you is that your question does not necessarily evoke an easy answer.

Here is a link to an article William Wynne wrote about an engine that was brought to his shop -

Another article on not even trusting a builder when they say "I built the engine according to the manual/plans" -

As far as the propeller goes, others can chime in, but here is a link to a discussion about Warp Drive propellers used on Corvair engine when flown on a Pietenpol -

Thanks Terry. I wasn't looking for a dollar value. The engine mount is not from a Pietenpol-maybe a KR, the exhaust and intake manifold are questionable. The carb although a good model requires overhaul. So basically I am looking at a core with a few extra parts one of which is a propeller. If the length and pitch are incorrect then the value is even less. I agree with your assessment of some "overhaul" value.
