That is true and I should have been a bit more careful in my response. If you look at the page with the landing gear drawings it clearly states the ashbeams are 27-1/2 inches apart center to center. But this has always botheredme because it forces the wing struts to be out of parallel (bottom narrowerthen the top). This is only a problem when you move the wing back to adjust theCG after you build your wing struts. In reality there are a bunch of Pietsbuilt this way so obviously it makes very little difference. I assumed this was an anomaly on the plans (I don't want to say it is an errorbecause it might be that is the true dimension) and I like keeping everythingparallel so I simply built my landing gear to fit between the axle and the landinggear/ lower strut fitting. I have no idea what the length of each gear legis as I never measured.Sorry Chis--------ChrisSacramento, CAWestCoastPiet.comRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: TC Pietenpol Progress

Hi Ray,The prop is a Cloudcars prop. Engine is a Continental A75The main cowling is sheet metal .The nose piece is fibreglass/epoxy laid up over a wooden mold - so far, several people in this area have used that same mold !Here are some photo's taken during construction. -making the template for the sheet metalwork.-making the cowling and fitting the nosepiece.-cutting out the openings and finishing work on the nose pieceCheers,PatriciaRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/tn_i ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: TC Pietenpol Progress

Mr. OldbirdMaybe I'm not seeing them in the picture, but, It doesn't look like youHave the gussets glued onto the inside of the fuselage. All of your inside gussets need to be glued in before you start gluing inYour crosspieces. This picture shows what I'm talking about...--------Earl BrownI may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where Iintended to be.Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/imag ... __________

Sure looks good, brings back many memories! You only have a little way to go. Sureis fun making something that some how resembles a plane.Keep working, it is its own reward.Ray KrauseBuilding SkyScoutSent from my iPad> On Aug 22, 2015, at 10:53 AM, oldbird wrote:> > > More work on the fuselage.> > > > > Read this topic online here:> > http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... 274#446274> > > > > Attachments: > > http://forums.matronics.com//files/img_ ... um_672.jpg> > > > > > > ________________________________________________________________________________

As with almost every "new idea" regarding the Pietenpol, it has been done before.Attached are a few photos of Pietenpols (or reasonable facsimiles) with flatspring gear. Like Skip said, serious reinforcement of the fuselage would berequired.Personally, I do not care for the look.Bill C.Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/jqn_ ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: TC Pietenpol Progress
