Pat,

I would also be interested in buying metal fittings for my Piet. I love the wood, I have started to CAD and bandsaw the metal. Not so much fun. At least I have a good welder nearby.

I have posted a series of DXF files that were donated a while back that apparently have all the metal parts needed for an Aircamper. No guarantee on accuracy or completeness. Go here to download:

If anybody uses these drawings to have parts cut, I would be curious to know how they work out.

Download the ZIP file again. I have included PDF versions of all the files.

I was looking to learn autocad so I could draw, view and edit the drawings of the steel parts myself. I chose Solidworks. I was able to view, draw, edit, create... Solidworks on your own is VERY expensive, but as an EAA member you can download it FOR FREE!!! In the immortal words "works great lasts long time!"
Training is good, but it's no substitute for experience...

To our buddy in France:
I posted this before and I'll pass it along again. Maybe it will be of help to you:

Guys, I'm just passing this source along. I have no vested interest in his business. I found him doing a web search for all things Pietenpol.
I wound up buying his set of control horns, all laser cut from 4130 and perfect to the correct dimensions.
Yesterday I bought his set of fuselage and tail fittings. Even got a chance to talk to the gentleman who runs the outfit. It seems his brother is building a Piet and, because he runs a steel fabricating outfit with access to CNC driven laser cutting equipment, he decided to make the stuff his brother needed. Then he decided to make them available to the rest of us as well.
When I figured the time and money spent sourcing the right steel, laying out the parts, hacking them out on my cheesy Harbor Freight metal cutting band saw and getting them just right, this guy's prices aren't that out of line at all.
Maybe you guys are way ahead of me and know all about this company but if not, check this out:

while having the metal fittings made can be a timesaver, the fact that these are all plans built, hand made airplanes means
that these are not really carbon copies of each other and there is not really a "one size fits all" set of fittings for every plane.

I got a nice set of CNC cut engine mount fittings from another builder, but wound up making the bottom fittings myself because
our fuselages were built slightly differently.
