Might be a little late but I think the options are 1) Use the rivet and most of the fitting sits under the covering or 2) Shim and bolt on top of the covering. Bolts wont fit under the covering as I'm sure you figured out but I think it's dealers choice on the look you like.

bummer about no longer offering Solid works, guess I was lucky. The parts turned out great and haven't had any fitment problems, I've used most of them so far so good.

Any luck? Most areas have a couple fabrication shops with cnc machines that can do it for you once you "build" your parts in an autocad type program. You get free access to solid works with an EAA membership. I was able to build them all and send them to my uncle who water jetted them all....

How timely Terry, I was trying to remember which project these went to. I'm listening, great ideas, I think Gary Boothe's plane on westcoast piets has some good brake ideas as well but I am looking at the sideways install.
