Re: Pitot tube
I overthought this alot on my build, but it seems to have worked out well. I drilled a 3/8 hole in the leading edge, and epoxied in a 3/8 aluminum tube that is bent to go over the spar. I then threaded a piece of 1/4" brass tubing to thread in both ends. The aluminum tube is cut off flush with ...

Re: Model A ignition harness
Perfect. Thanks for the help. I will order a lead and change out the ones that are too short. I am sure I will have more questions. It has been challenging getting the Ford engine and all of the engine systems mounted in the Corben. The underslung radiator and tight cowling have created the main hea...

Re: Model A ignition harness
Sounds good. Did you have to buy the $863 tool to swage the ends?

Model A ignition harness
What is everyone using for an ignition harness with the model A? I have a slick 4201 mag mounted directly to end of the crank. The slick harness I have from a small continental comes up about 6" short. I am using standard REM 40E plugs.

Re: 0200 engine mount
Interesting. Continental definitely recommends a 3/8 bolt here. On my Piet with the O-200, the engine mount is built to the plans with a 7/16 bolt. The mount is extended 3”. Thinking I’m an idiot who built the airplane wrong, I went to check my Aeronca 11ac with an a65. Also uses a 7/16 bolt. Hmm. B...

Long time lurker here. First trip to Brodhead in 2008, haven't missed a year since. Started building ribs in the 9th grade, took 15 years to finish. My Pietenpol now has 2.7 hours on it, first flight 2/25/24. So far so good. Powered by a fire breathing Continental O-200. Location Fayetteville, Arkan...

Re: Ford Model A conversion
Richard, Thanks for the info. The Corben did not come with the engine, it was originally built in the early 1970's and flown with a Chevy Vega engine. The engine was acquired by a man named Hendrix in Iowa from a Piet builder's estate. The plan is to do a recover and use the Ford A. I am currently f...

Re: Ford Model A conversion
Update, I found a model A engine, but still know very little about it. Supposedly, a "Brodhead guru" did the conversion 20+ years ago, and it has been stored in Arizona for most of that time before it found its way to Iowa and now Arkansas. It appears to have very little if any run time, t...

Ford Model A conversion
Hello good people... Finishing up a continental powered Air Camper and looking towards my next project. I have an older experimental airplane (not a Piet) that needs a Ford model A hanging on the front. Does anyone have a lead on a good used engine, or even a source of info other than the BHP conver...
