Re: Instrument Panel
I read that Wiley Post as well as many Air Mail pilots would rotate their gauges in the panel so that 12 o'clock was normal At a glance they could see all was good. Just a thought.

Re: Bill Rewey
When I contacted Bill about restoring his first Piet ( N2094 ) his advise, help, support and stories were priceless to me. I tried my best to attend Broadhead last July so Bill could see her again but the weather just wouldn't allow it. He would call out of the blue and advise me of things to check ...

Re: offset vertical fin
I have the same issue with N2094? Cruise is hands off at 75 MPH and 2100 RPM but I have to apply slight right rudder pressure. Usually just the weight of my foot is enough to correct a left turn & bank. I added a small rudder trim tab ( 6 inch X 2 ) but didn't notice a difference ? I was hoping ...

ASI question
I have an air speed indicator question? The ASI in WR-1 isn't working. I have a United Instruments 8000 0-120 ASI that would fit. My question is the static port on it has a brass plug in it? Pressure port has a line fitting. Should the static port be reading atmospheric pressure?

Any advice would be appreciated. I've read about the "Twang" method and measuring to the vertical stabilizer but it appears to be offset so I'm not sure about that?

I have 8.00-4 Goodyear tires. I've been told they are old Cub wheels and tires? Mine show no signs of wear but have cracking in the grooves. I'm not sure if they can be trusted? Lol Aircraft Spruce has new ones but they are $311.00 each!

Re: prop question
Thanks Oscar. After a long chat with Sensenich tech support I've learned a lot about propellers! Great people and very helpful. He said he was not surprised at my 2000 rpm static as A65's seldom reach more than that? I'm ready to install the wings now and perform W & B then on to some taxi time ...

prop question
Open question: I'm currently restoring WR-1. I have the engine running now after going though everything. It's a A65-8-F from a 46 Taylorcraft with a Sensenich 74 X 43 aluminum prop. Static RPM is barely 2000 indicated. Seems that 72 x 42 is the most widely used Piet prop. Sensenich recommended prop...
