Re: cockpit covers

Thanks for the kind words, Ken and Oscar. Pirep: quieter, warmer and less drafty. I think I have about the right number of fasteners -- I went back and forth on how many to use. Not like a certified plane or kit where you just follow the instructions. Standard snaps from Sailrite. Loxx are super eas...

Re: Wed STL stop-over night before Brodhead

I have had a couple private responses, so tentatively planning for this as a "go" -- even if it was only a single visitor. Truth be told even if I got run over by a bus this spring, 1IL4 would still not a bad stopover point for y'all. But the opportunity exists to make it a more "frie...

Wed STL stop-over night before Brodhead

A little brainstorming.... EAA Chapter 64 ~ 250 nm or 4 piet-hours S of Brodhead near St. Louis, in Millstadt IL. For those headed to Brodhead this year from the South--if we could arrange rest stop on Wednesday how much interest would there be--? 1IL4 is 2,400 ft good grass with Mogas/Avgas, and po...

Ken Bickers,
Thanks for making me feel better about keeping my bungees. I was contemplating the die spring solution as an "improvement" that wouldn't need the occasional maintenance.

Re: Modified Aircamper

Oscar -- agreed. Those of us who live under and close Class B airspace tend to forget there's a lot of airspace you can fly a plane without ADSB. All of my local fields are in or near the Mode C veil and it would be a PITA to be excluded. Just worth noting that if the Piet was signed off with an ele...

Cool plane. If it was originally signed off with an electrical system, sounds like it will need ADSB out.

Engine break-in in a GN-1 is a lot colder but a lot more fun than brand C, M, or P.

Pietenpol Project | SOLD

I have a really nice Pietenpol project I purchased a year ago and realized with multiple airplanes each with lots of planned upgrades, it's going to be long enough before I could get into building it -- that I ought to let someone else run with it. Have plenty of projects I plan for the GN-1 alone. ...

Scrounge Dawg Piet Flies again

Happy to report that 'Piety' (GN-1 Aircamper) took to the skies again last week. Our EAA Chapter built her, and after being damaged in a directional control incident, languished for a few years. Broke my heart to see her sit. Repairs and refurbishment ended up being way more substantial than anticip...

thanks Don, I found a second set of plans. Jives with your info; much appreciated. I'm actually going through and re-verifying my datums but having some "typicals" to cross check will help. Not trying to be overly anal about the W&B (well actually I am) but I'm at a point where I can c...

Grega GN-1 W&B

Looking for info on GN-1 W&B. Found a material error in the builder's calculations on mine that is causing me to want to dive deeper and don't see anything in the plans that conveyed to me. The actual CG is aft of where he said it was, if weights are right. For anybody with a GN-1 what % of MAC ...

St. Louis Area Piets

Hi All,
Interested in meeting & checking out any Piet builds in process in the metro STL area. Am already in contact w/EAA64 and getting involved in the repair of that one. Just joined BPA & thinking about a slow build project I can putter on.
Thanks much,
Bob Miller
