This auction will be in Enid, OK. It is from my mentor's estate. He was a master mechanic. Built at least two homebuilts, restored 3 Bonanzas, Several Cessnas and several 1940s Aeronca Cub/piper Cubs. He also restored antique autos. I will be willing to tell you what I know about these items. http:/...

It appears you would not be stressing the engine much to crank it up to 70 HP or so! The model A's just sound so cool. Reminds me of the OX-5. The engine is turning so slow that it just doesn't look like it should be flying!

If you have a mount already made for a Champ or Cub, could you simply (and safely) modify the firewall/fuselage attachments to fit that mount? One caveat on a Sport Pilot flying a Pietenpol. The approved gross weight can't be over 1320 pounds. Not a problem for most, but the builder gets to pick his gross. If he said 1350lbs, a sport pilot can't fly it.

Beechcraft Bonanzas have been putting on VGs for years and the general consensus is:

You lose 1-2 Knots cruise speed.
You get 4-6 Knot slower stall speed.
The real advantage is that the planes seem to become more controllable in slow flight. And stalls are gentler.
