AN42B eye bolts

Post by PoconoJohn »

I plan to use AN42B eye bolts for elevator/rudder hinges. It seems I'll need a grip of 1 1/8". For washers and nuts, I plan to use AN960-10 and AN365-1032A. Will that work?

Thanks!

I have used eyebolts on two aircraft for elevator and rudder hinges. I like them, as they are very strong compared to aluminium. If you use a forstner drill bit, you can recess the base of the eyebolt into the wood and keep the gap between elevator / stabilizer and rudder / vert stab to a minimum. Just make sure the eyebolts are drilled at a true 90 degree. They are rather pricey. Don

Just an update. NOT using AN42B...I will be using AN43B and building using the GN1 plans for my version of hinges.
