Heating steel after bending

Post by PoconoJohn »

I made a 90 degree bend in several pieces of 4130 .090. Am I supposed to heat them up to relieve stress? I feel like I heard that somewhere but no answer in Tony B's books or AC43.13-1B (or I missed it).

Thanks!

If you had the proper grain direction and minimum bend radius you shouldn't have to stress release.

Thank you. Grain and radius are fine, so I'm going to leave it.
