Those of you who did the Jenny style landing gear with the through axle held on by bungee cords. How did you tie or fasten the ends of the cords once wrapped around the gear and axle?

For some reason the directions for wrapping the bungees is in the '33 FGM article for the Scout (or at least it is in my EAA reprint version). It says to use a square knot and tape the ends. I'm not at that stage yet myself so..

I’ve used ugly old hose clamps. Vintagey looking safety wire wrapped them. Zip ties! All worked fine.

I simply liked the safety wire wrapped the most.

I found that the zip ties will slip over time. I started to use safety wire and that worked. Never had to rewrap the cords since.

I am not using bungee cords but to me there's a question when people say they used safety wire to secure the ends. My question would be, 0.032" safety wire, or 0.041"?
