At this point, my plans are:Riblett 612 airfoil. Don't ask why [Twisted Evil] It just seemed like a goodidea at the time. Corvair Engine, Make the fuselage 2 inches wider, maybe add the front cockpit door.Otherwise, pretty standard. ( I know, it's not standard.)--------Joe PringleAtlanta, GARead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Question about hardware

I am about to start having to buy screws and nuts for my project. For a few years,I planned to build a RV, and the thing I heard over and over was to onlyuse aviation grade hardware - nothing from Home Depot. Now, I want to ask you guys what you have used. For example, I have the Vi Kaplerhinges, and in trying to learn what kind of screws to use, I just read a threadwhere people were using SS screws from the local hardware store. Is thatwhat most people do? [Question]--------Joe PringleAtlanta, GARead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Question about hardware

ACS also has the hardware "kits" that have many common sizes and even come with a little shelf case for a reasonable price. Joe, if you are in Atlanta you can probably drive to ACS East and get hardware easily.John HofmannVice-President, Information TechnologyThe Rees Group, Inc.2424 American LaneMadison, WI 53704Phone: 608.443.2468 ext 150Fax: 608.443.2474Email: jhofmann(at)reesgroupinc.comOn May 20, 2013, at 2:44 PM, Ken Bickers wrote:> Joe, the machine screws that fit the Vi Kapler are a fairly special size. Size 8 and (if my memory is correct) 100 degree bevel on the heads. I bought mine through Aircraft Spruce. I suppose hardware stores might carry that type of screw, but I doubt it. And you'd always wonder if the fasteners were good enough. Placing an order through ACS with lots of sizes of AN3 and some AN4, along with some of the specialty items was what I did. Subject: RE: Pietenpol-List: A very Generous PietenpollerI taxied back to the flight line and shut down with a feeling of elation and an amazing realization that the plane I am building is exactly the kind of plane I want to fly. What a great story and experience Brian K. was able to give you this past weekend Scott and that says a LOT about Brian's trust in your piloting skills to let you gofly his Pietenpol solo. What a wonderful story and now you know exactly how that Piet of yours will fly. They are a very sweet flying airplane and even really goodcrosswind airplanes.Mike C.________________________________________________________________________________Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: How many of you are building/have built in your 2car garage

I am building my Pietenpol in two, one-car garages that are separated by a partitionwall. I just submitted an article for the BPA Newsletter last week. Thearticle is intended to show some of the ways I get the most out of a small shop.Out of respect for the Doc, you'll have to wait until he publishes the article(otherwise I would have submitted the info here.....) It's not anything secret,I just strive to have an organized/pleasant place to build. It's great tosee the workshops/places you all use to build your creations...........--------Jake Schultz - curator,Newport Way Air Museum (OK, it's just my home)Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

I used almost all AN hardware on my last ship but do remember my Deceased Mentor Mr. Dave Warren a respected retired American Airlines aircraft mechanic and well know at the vintage airplane gatherings like Blakesburg tell me to use Grade 8 bolts (non AN) for my engine mounting bolts on NX40772 and that is what I did. Always wondered about that.Craig> Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Question about hardware
