A.S.I feel the same pressures as you. Unfortunately, this announcement only adds tothat! The individual who first comes to mind, who knows Mr. Pietenpol's intents secondonly to you, is the distinguished proprietor of Loensloe Air Service; althoughit is rumored that his personality is kindly and soft spoken. Still, I havewitnessed a coarser side when builders expose proposed changes to the designin an attempt to improve the Pietenpol. There may be hope....GaryNX308MBSent from my iPhone> On Mar 4, 2014, at 7:16 AM, Lawrence Williams wrote:> > > Because of the unrest in the Middle East and Crimea, economic malaise, globalwarming and the volatility of bitcoins, I am so overwrought that I have not beenable to discharge the duties of TC for several months. He was a man who loved the beauty andsimplicity of Mr. Pietenpol's design and would tolerate no lookalikes. I never heard him utter the phrase " There is no such thing asa stupid question", believing that a certain amount of rational thinking wasa prerequisite to attempting the task of recreating the classic design.> > Hopefully someone with a sharp pen and tongue as well as a penchant for keepingthe marque pure will step up to fill Chris's shoes. I second the motion that Dan become the new TC. Dan can have an ascerbicwit - he's just too nice to show it often.Jack PhillipsNX899JPSmith Mountain Lake, VirginiaSomewhat of a Curmudgeon myself, but since I don't have a Model A in myPietenpol, I'm not qualified.-----Original Message-----

Gentlemen,I am not sure any one man is quite capable of filling the distinguished and eminent shoes, of the consummate and magnanimous Top Curmudgeon, Lawrence V. Williams. Not to mention that I had to look up the definition of acerbic. Heck, I don't even have half the credentials behind my name either. The only thing I do have going for me is the fact that I am in sole possession of the BHP "secret" papers. I will have to admit that these papers do contain a wealth of Bernerd's knowledge and, private, previously-unpublished ponderings on many subjects. I was entrusted with these a few years ago by the elusive and imponderable John (don't spell it Racine) Recine. Where he got them I do not know. At any rate I was sworn to uphold the tradition of only making these available once annually, during the month of May. I would be honored to serve on a revue board, in equal capacity and authority, with the other members, the qualifications for which are contained in the "papers". So as previously mentioned, we will have to wait a couple of months for those to be revealed.Yours,Dan HelsperPuryear, TNcc: TC-----Original Message-----

Bob, I'm in Oshkosh. I did drive across Winnebago last week! Really, just becauseI could. Never done that before. I, too, support global warming. Dan, hmmm.... considering something must be done, I guess I shall nominate youto chair the board. Let the cards fall where they may once you have your committee.Larry can be TC emeritus...Seconds?Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Egad!! Oscar, you're slipping a bit.Looks like you missed a few other details. For instance, the horizontal stabilizer also appears to be off-center. As is the"center section" of the wing, and even the landing gear legs. It's almost as though the photo wasn't taken exactly on the centerline of the plane.BCRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Egad!! By the way, I found a dyno simulation for the L134 engine that produced the powerand torque curves in the graph that I've attached. It may be possible to makethis work, just looking at the curves. At "normal" prop speeds of 2200-2300RPM, the power looks to be about 36-37HP (solid red curve). Run it up to 2400-2500and it climbs into the 40-42HP range, which is comparable to the Ford"A" engine. Run it at 3000 RPM with a ground-adjustable 68" Warp Drive likethe Corvair uses and it might put out 50HP.The dry weight of the engine is given in the Willys specs as 365 lbs. but peopleon the Jeep CJ chat sites say it weighs about the same as a small-block Chevy. The Ford A engine weighs about the same, I think... specs that I found showweight of engine and transmission to be 475, so the engine alone should be aboutthe same weight as the Willys.--------Oscar ZunigaMedford, ORAir Camper NX41CC "Scout"A75 powerRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/dyno ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Egad!!
