Working on modifying my operating limitations - Standard Pietenpol, wood fuselage, C-75-12 certificated engine. One of the threads in my search alluded to a "good safety record," which is not surprising.
How do these things compare with, say, the J3 Cub safety record?

That’s an interesting question. I am unaware of a direct comparison, however, a quick search does present some common causes of Pietenpol accidents. It seems, aircraft handling, poor maintenance, and carburetor ice are leading issues.
I think many pilots don’t understand that carburetor icing can occur in ambient temperatures as high as 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
