I don't see any reason why you should not go ahead and join your fuselage=sides.I used a router to cut the ends off the lower cross strut (with plyfirewall in place) in order to mount lower mounts. In other words I cutslots through the firewall/lower cross strut to accomodate the inside low=ermotor mounts.
