Subject: Pietenpol-List: As luck would have it and so the rant is now early butthe rant nonetheless Yes its true, as Luck would have it and early this year down trodden and out of work I decided to try my luck at magnanimous gestures of proactive yes its true lawn care. I got the old tractor battery charged up drove the cart down to the brush pile and warmed up the tractor I had just repaired. Full scale deck rebuild, hangar style, zerks and all. Sears doesn't put them in so you blow out mower spindles when the bearings go away. Not this guy juss too dam smart for the old Sears dry bearing trick. So smart as I am, I got the rebuilt out fueled her up with the special blend of my secret treated, naturalized and stabilized fuel, yes sir I did that and proud to tell ya bout it. I got me a good cut going and drover over the leaves on the ground reducing the rake out and blower time. I am all over this. The next morning at 0810 or there about's I noticed the white stuffbeginning to appear and more and more appeared until the grass became white and the leaves mulched an driven down into the depths of the rhizomes andtillers of the fescue, I was doing it and without might I say without the encouraging tone of my lovely life partner and voice of all knowledge, yes the Princess of the Nile and she who shall not be denied. There we were all ground up the lawn white with yes the noreaster snow of the east coast whopper wet snow storm in full force. Life is good and the lawn officially dead, nothing could have survived that bit of weather, not even the trees and branches fallen due to the storm. But yet well before the official beginning of Buildapalooza 2011 and 12. some how being out of work gives buildapalooza much less meaning but still a viable on my calendar and no longer the holiday of the troll as in a real hangar, no more cellar dweller for me.Paying for the hangar well that plan has yet to experience some additional growth and development issues that need to be ironed out. Not withstanding though, here we are on the cusp of Buildapalooza and ding dong the yard is dead ding done the stinkin yard is dead, hi ho the merry O the stinking yard is dead. But now since all the leaves have yet to fall it looks like we have another tractor day of leaf grinding to continue the weed and weed growth cycle. It just seems too early for the dead yard rant but its here and so here is the annual dead yard rant with 4 part harmony and feeling. Ding dong the yard is dead, ding dong the stinkin yard is dead now back to Lancaster Aeroplan Works for more building, gluing and rebuilding septin it gets cold inthere and the ceiling is next , no sense trying to heat the upper space and letting the heat go away. So tarp city here we come in preparation for you guessed it Buildapalooza 2011- 2012. I wonder if I'll actually get anything accomplished. The problem with having a shop and tools there is so much other stuff you can do and make its just amazing how quickly the hours of light and warmth seem to evaporate in the mangar that's short for man hangar.Okay got to keep focused flying machines. Oh yes and with the gas grill 2 fridges filled with adult and adulterated beverage its no big thing to throw a dog or 3 on the grill for lunch. If I ever get to building life will return to good and accomplishments abound but for now the stinkin yard is dead! Thanks be to snow........and early storms. note to self rebuild carb onsnowblowerJohnGo in peace the rant has ended!________________________________________________________________________________Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: As luck would have it and so the rant is now earlybut the rant nonetheless

The registration for Corvair College # 21 has closed. Approximately 70 people have registed to attend on November 11, 12, 13.For those who are attending and want to "talk" a little Pietenpol, Don Harper and I will hold an informal "Brodhead type" forum on Sat morning in my hangar. This is in no way intended to draw anyone away from the main focus of the college , which is learning about and building corvair engines for homebuilt planes. William Wynne will have many parts avaliable as well freely sharing his vast knowledge about building corvair engines. Don will have his Piet project on display. Wings complete but not covered, fuselage about complete on wheels with center section, tail feathers and corvair engine installed. We will also show those just getting started how easy it is to build wing ribs. Come and be prepared to have a enjoyable time and learn a lot. Also join the list of more than 200 who have taken a ride in my corvair powered Piet.thanks,P. F. Peter,This Piet was built in San Diego by a friend of mine. It had a Cont. engine onit. I believe it to be a A-75. He sold it years ago and it went to Washingtonstate. Apparently it was sold again to the guy in Ohio. I didn't know it wentthere. Since it has change hands so many times, it is hard to say what engine it had atthe time or any other changes were made to it. Here is a link that showed it when it was in Washington.http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/N4 ... -----Scott LiefeldFlying N11MS since March 1972Steel TubeC-85-12Wire WheelsBrodhead in 1996Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Wed, 2 Nov 2011 08:37:29 -0700 (PDT)

Hey shad you and I are about in the same place I have 302 hours on mine as of this past weekend. 102 of those since the Roy's bearing upgrade at Barnwell last November.Randy BushNX294RBSent from my iPhoneOn Nov 1, 2011, at 8:54 PM, shad bell wrote:> I got about an hr on the piet today. The midwest is an awsome place to fly this time of year, you can land in about 90% of the area under you, it is mostly flat cut off fields. I am shooting to break the 300hr mark on 92GB before putting it up for the winter, 2.5 hrs to go. > > Shad> > ===============================================================================================================================================================================> ________________________________________________________________________________Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: As luck would have it and so the rant is now earlybut the rant nonetheless

OK, now I can relax. Always at this time of year, there is the anticipated subconscious anxiety that builds up within the hearts of all Piet List brothers, until we hear the annual the yard is dead rant blog from our beloved JR. This is the official signal to "get to work" on your projects. Yes it is that time of year to put those petty things aside like cook-outs an such. I guess you might even say it is goal-setting time for anybody that is seriously thinking about completeing their project in time to attend Brodhead 2012. Here's wishing a prosperous winter build season to all. Thanks John.Dan HelsperPuryear, TN-----Original Message-----
