Who else has smoke?While those guys are amazing to watch, that stunt was also done way back in 1963 in a twin Beech, for =9CIt=99s a Mad, Mad, Mad World.=9D I know the hangar well, as it still stands at the airport I learned to fly. What=99s not seen in this picture is that there was a stand of eucalyptus trees that he had to negotiate on pull out. In fact, the trees were too close to fly over, but there was a gap large enough to fly throughif he banked enough! Since he was so low to the ground, it required a bank and a yaw to keep climbing. I have tried(unsuccessfully, so far) to have a UK Piet Club Fly-In in Northern Ireland inMay - it is just too far for most to attempt.Maybe next year you could be persuaded to join us - it is a (short) 13 mile hopacross the Irish Sea from the Mull of Kintyre to Ballycastle!
