It may have been mentioned on here already and for those of you that get the MAACnewsletter, you would know, but Lowell Frank passed away last month. Talkingwith Lowell under a shade tree was always a highlight of my trips to Brodhead.He was an extremely interesting, colorful, and entertaining guy who led fulllife. He had the blue and silver Piet and for many years regularly flew it intoBrodhead. It had an inverted Funk engine, a Warner, and Lambert at differenttimes. I may have missed a couple in there too. Sorry to hear that, Don. Lowell was a character and no mistake. The firsttime I went to Brodhead in 2000 he had a 145 hp Warner radial engine on hisPietenpol. To quote Axel Olssen "I didn't like it much." Just too big.Didn't look right for a Pietenpol.Lowell was always ready to talk about Pietenpols and his sex life.
