I believe it is a precursor for the NAS standard. The latest NASstandard for turnbuckles includes a lot more information than the 325 FS butbasically the 325 means it is a 5/32nd diameter and the F means forked. S probablymeans Steel but it is missing from the newer standards. I have attacheda copy but will see if I can work back to the original specs from 1940's or earlier.> > Rodney> ________________________________________________________________________________Subject: Pietenpol-List: Electrical Bonding

How have you that are flying grounded your electrical components? Have you runa grounding cable the full length of the fuselage and grounded all metal components?Any pictures would help.Thanks.--------Harv, 485PBRead this topic online here:

Harv, I put a copper grounding bus behind the pilots IP=2E=2E This bus was then grounded to the metal firewall and the engine block=2E All of the electrical components are grounded to this bus=2E Regards, Rick Schreiber, NX478RS Valparaiso, INSent from BlueMailOn Oct 12, 2016, 9:11 AM, at 9:11 AM, Harvey Plummer wrote:>--> Pietenpol-List message posted by: "Harvey Plummer">>>How have you that are flying grounded your electrical components? Harvey,I ran a ground strap to the engine, terminating it in a ground block on thefirewall. To that I attached the negative terminal of the battery, and rana 10 ga wire back to the avionics. I don't have a starter, so there is nota lot of current draw - the heaviest draw is the transponder and it onlydraws a couple of amps. Here's a copy of my schematic:One of the smarter things I did when building my Pietenpol was to make acopy of the schematic, laminate it, and attach it to the inside of the doorgiving access to the instrument panel. When I decided to add a smoke systemyears after I built the airplane, I was trying to determine how I wouldpower it. I looked at the schematic and then remembered I had already wiredfor a smoke system. Made it very easy! This picture shows the schematic attached to the door, where I can neverlose it:Jack PhillipsNX899JPSmith Mountain Lake, Virginia-----Original Message-----

Good afternoon, Nice schematic, learned a few things for avionics. Am I missing something on your magneto ground wire? It goes to the outside of your accessory plug, then radio and transponder ground, but then to the voltmeter, what looks like the positive side. Is it possible that the voltmeter should come off one of the fuses and the mag ground should go to a ground wire somewhere? I'm not trying to be smart, I either don't understand or I wouldn't want anyone making a boo-boo.Thanks, Mike.

Hmm, I think you are right. I'm pretty sure that ground should go from theground side of the voltmeter to the radio ground on the buss bar. The otherside of the voltmeter should go to the positive terminal of the battery, otherwise it would not work!Next time I go out to my hangar I'll look and see how it is actually wired.Jack PhillipsNX899JPSmith Mountain Lake, Virginia
