Wood and Steel Fuselages

The wood and steel fuselages are substantially different in design.
The wood version is comprised mainly of vertical members combined with diagonals that slope "down and back".
Whereas the steel version has no vertical member but rather diagonals that slope both ways.

Also the steel version looks to be about 2" shorter even than the "short version" of the wooden options.

Does anyone know the reason for the structural differences and the shorter length?
Oscar?

Thanks

Sorry, Varmint... I'm not a steel guy and I don't weld, but I do know that the steel tube fuselage has been successfully employed by builders for many years and is said to be lighter that the wood fuselage. Others will have to chime in here, like Terry Hand, who is building his Piet with a steel tube fuselage.
