Rim for the 1.5" axle

I'm stuck finding a rim for 6.00 X 6 tires to mount on a 1.5" axle. Potential rims don't specify the axle size, but do mention 5/8" or 3/4" bearings. Example: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/pages/lg ... azusa2.php (ball bearings? Tapered roller bearings?)

Quite a few wheels are "No stock" at AS&S.

I'm also looking around for a brake disc.

I think I'm good on tailwheel components, brake caliper, tires and tubes. Just need rim and brake disc.

Thank you!

John; I don't have any parts to offer you, but can tell you about my 6.00x6 Clevelands with brakes. Mine are off of a 1960s-era Bonanza and take 1-1/2" axles. Between the 5" and 6" Cleveland wheels, there are variations that take 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" axles but nothing as small as the 5/8" or 3/4" that the little Azusa wheels ride on. The bearings on my Clevelands are tapered roller bearings, and for this particular wheel the bearings were (thankfully) some of the lowest-priced wheel bearings in the catalog. Same with the Rapco replacement brake linings- very inexpensive.

The axles on the 800 lb gross weight Flying Squirrel that I'm building are 5/8" but I wouldn't use anything that small on a Piet.

Considering that there were thousands and thousands of airplanes built that use the 6" Cleveland wheels and brakes, those used parts should be available from aircraft salvage companies.

I bought mine from Matco. Mine are 1-1/4", because I was modifying my Piet to brakes. They have multiple 1-1/2" wheels and brakes.

Thanks Oscar and Richard. Matco is either "No stock" or super expensive. I'll search for used parts. Saw this, but not sure if the part is OK (or if it fits 1.5" axle).

https://www.smithsalvageandrestoration. ... ype_3.html Not sure why this is so cheap.

Looking at Cleveland wheels, they have numbers along with 6.00-6 such as "40-97 6.00-6 Main Wheel" and not sure if that is important. Or "600-6 Type 3".

Brand new wheels and brakes here are over $2K... https://www.groveaircraft.com/61-1.html
