Using .080 4130 fittings

Greetings. I am one of those who purchased precut fittings from an online source. I want to use these fittings but I found they are all of .080" 4130 thickness. Most of the people I talk to use .090, and even the plans call for some 12 gage, which is .104" thickness.

What are your thoughts using .080 for pieces like center brace wire fittings on the tail (1933 plans say 12 gage), for example? I'd just like to see other people's input.

Thanks.

You won't go wrong following the plans. Here's the mental test I used whenever I was considering a change to the plans or, more often, considering the use of a part that I had made that I knew was less than ideal. I would imagine what would be going through my mind while being jostled by afternoon chop at 2000 feet AGL with my son or wife in the front cockpit. If I had any misgivings at all, I would remake the part. My bin of unused first attempts was fairly impressive.

My plans (1975 by Kapler) say .080 for the center section.

Howdy.
Bobby you mentioned you bought fittings from an online store and they were .080.
Was this by chance Icarus. I have been trying to get a hold of them for a couple weeks with no response.
I am using the info on their web site........
Any idea if they are still around and doing it........ or have different contact info.

Or another source you might know?
thanks a bunch
mark

I just purchased some fittings from Icarus and they sent everything as requested. So they are still around, but I don't have an individual contact other than what is on their site. I haven't communicated with anyone there outside of the automated order process.

One thing I will say is that it took a couple of weeks for the parts to arrive, and they did not update the order or send any emails when they shipped everything out.
