I am slowly narrowing the design choices down. The two leadingcontenders (until the January Kitplanes) are the Air Camper anda Graham Lee Neiuport 12. I am actually leading toward the Pietbecause I figure that after 70 years all of the bugs are workedout of it. The only thing that bothers me about the Pietenpolis the 385 pound useful load listed on the specs. This seemsawful low for a 2 seater and from what I have read is pretty much ignored. Has anyone done a structural analysis to determineif this limit is due to the stucture or due to the Model A engine? On the plans ordering page there is a Original Air Camper & Sky Scout Builders Manual listed. Is this a useful book? Are thereany others that I should purchase when I order my plans? MaybeSanta will bring them if I make up my mind soon enough.Dave________________________________________________________________________________

Dave,If you are a first-time builder you might be disappointed with the Nieuport plans.Friend of mine bought them and said they were about the most incomplete hehad encountered and left many questions unanswered. Another major differenceis that one a/c is all wood the other all metal. I have built both metal and wooda/c and wood is a much more pleasant material to work with. Lastly, thereis nothing like the support for the Nieuport builder which is available in thisPietenpol newsgroup. Regards,Leo P.S. I'm only partly biased on the subject. I'm not a Pietenpol builder but havebuilt a wood MiniMax and am about to start on a wood Jodel D18.--On Sat, 14 Nov 1998 14:16:50 Dave and Connie wrote:>I am slowly narrowing the design choices down. I also send and get many questions to his personnalmailbox. He is always on the list to answer your questions. Maybe Leo wasthinking about some other designer. I do not know about the plans other thanGrahm saying the Nieuport 11 plans are made for the first time builder and theNieuport 12 is not madefor first time builder. My friend built and is flying his Minimax and I shot alot of video of it two weeksago at our Soggy Dry Lake Fly-INI myself have decided to build a Ragwing Ultralite Pietenpol and the Standard version.Butnot sure which one first. The RagWing group has alot of activity, morethan the Nieuport group. But that does not mean anything. I'm new to thisgroup so I don't know how much activity goes on here.Yes, the new Kitplanes January issue will be out in about a month, My 1998 Janissue is getting pretty Dog Eared now. I get most of my information on the Internetanyway.GordonOn Sat, 14 Nov 1998 14:16:50 Dave and Connie wrote:> >I am slowly narrowing the design choices down.
