Well. .. got the spar splice done. .Put fabric on top yesterday. . Covered the bottom today. Not that bad of a repair. . Ordered tubing to just build anotherAxel. .. probably easier than fixing the original. Engine is next. .. flying again soonJeffRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/2013 ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: repair

Jeff; don't feel like the Lone Ranger. I'm glad nobody can see Scout right now.The wings are still off the airplane and all the inspection covers are off.I still need to make glue repairs to a rib glue joint and a splintered spoton the plywood leading edge of one of the wings before they will be done. Thetailwheel is coming off so I can take a slight twist out of the leaf springsthat has the tailwheel wearing unevenly. I need to patch a hole that I cut inone of the ailerons to remove a loose piece of hardware that was rattling aroundin there (a random nutplate). The engine cowlings are off and the plug wiresare dangling willy-nilly, since I'm replacing the cooling eyebrows with thenew set that I have. The front seat bulkhead is torn out; I'm rebuilding itwith a new one, along with Mike Cuy-style rudder stops and an extra brace acrossthe front of it to keep it from ever ungluing again when I "exercise" therudder bar to its full extents in a crazy crosswind. The turn and bank is outof the panel for overhaul. The braided flex fuel line from the shutoff valveto the gascolator is out of the airplane, to be replaced with aluminum tubing. The aileron control cables are dangling in the cockpit. The ELT battery isout of date and needs to be replaced. The gear legs need touch-up paint, asdo two fabric repair patches at the lift strut attach points (still in pink).Gaaa-!!! Will this thing ever fly again? Will the engine even start? Oh, yeah, and I forgot... the centersection flop is coming off so I can replacethe mangled aluminum piano hinge with a steel one. The list of squawks seemsto be getting longer instead of shorter, and here we are almost halfway throughsummer!!--------Oscar ZunigaMedford, ORAir Camper NX41CC "Scout"A75 powerRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: repair
