Nice idea. I found a similar design that I will use from an old Newsletter. 1" and 3/4" 4130 square tubing. Cut one side off & the 3/4 nests inside the 1". Cut/drill/shape the necessary pieces. Connect with clevis pin. There was a caution that at least one hinge half should be inset into the wood to prevent swiveling.
