Those who are operating on wood gear legs.... Did you glue the spruce legs to the ash blocks or did you rely on the steel fittings and bolts to make the connection? Yes I know, small work space but it's warm, dry and ten steps from the kitchen! Scott Knowlton. I dowelled and glued mine, but I'm not sure it matters.Gary NX308MBSent from my iPhone> On Apr 30, 2014, at 12:54 PM, Scott Knowlton wrote:> > Those who are operating on wood gear legs.... Scott-I glued that junction with T-88 after scuff sanding the mating pieces. With my landings I could use all the help I can get on theundercarriage strength!Mike C.Ohio[cid:image001.jpg(at)01CF648F.06F20920]________________________________________________________________________________

I relied on the steel fittings and the bolts. Over 300 hours, hundreds oflandings (including one forced landing that ended in a groundloop) and noproblems at all with the wooden gear.Jack PhillipsNX899JPSmith Mountain Lake, Virginia-----Original Message-----

I glued and stapled. The glue really doesn't do much, the staples DO add quitea bit of strength. The glue doesn't do much, BUT the penalty is NIL. It does add a little, in thatit might prevent a LITTLE movement, so there's no reason not to. While the staples do add strength, not much in the big scheme of things. Theydid, however, hold it all together VERY well while I got the metal pieces allbolted in there. I used 2" long 1/4" crown staples. FWIW, the bottom end is FAR from the weak link. It's the other end that's important.Make sure it's fitted well.Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

It's been a while since I bought my mag switch, but it was from ACS. I don't know of any other places they are available. One could always simply use two good quality locking toggle switches like inthe old days. I THINK Larry Williams mounted two of these outside hiscockpit. Ck out his pics on westcoastpiet.com and you may see them.I substituted these for the expensive Cessna type master switch combos forway less than they were asking.Douwe________________________________________________________________________________Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: mag switches

Thanks Douwe, I will check into that as an alternative to a keyed mag switch. A fellow =9Cscrounge dawg=9D here in STL has his Zenith rigged that way.Dennis
