Gene, sorry forgot about the dimples,,,,,guess my dimensions somehow differ fromthe original, cause when I put them on the rear plugs came a little tooclose to the alum cover. So I marked the spot and "dimpled" out the areafrom the inside till the was clearance. To dimple the alum. I got a bag of lead shot from the gun shop. Smallerpellets, not 00buck. and you lay the spot over the let and hit the otherside with a round end tool, or a reshaped hammer, guess you could evenround a piece of ash. Keep working the area till you get the shape youwant. And the alum I used was harder then normal. The soft should beeasier to work. You'll be amazed how good it comes out.also used this method when fabricating the engine cowl, the breather elbowon the A-65 needed a dimple in the cowl.walt(figured I'd share it with the group)Original Message -----

Subject: Pietenpol-List: EyebrowsPieters, I promised sometimes back that I would never add or subtract to this list but after reading those messages concerning "eyebrows" I just couldn'trestrain myself. I cannot believe that a man would endeavor to build a Piet or any other airplane who did not posess the abilities to fabricate such simple parts as theeyebrows. He should maybe try making footstools or magazine holders. That is such a simple task. Believe me when I say, if I can do it anyone can. Don't expect a finish product on the first try but boy you will really learn each time you try. Aluminum and rivets are really cheap, your pride and dignity are expensive.Haven't tried to accuse, embass or otherwise. But I hope I have encouraged you to tryCorky, an old Pieter________________________________________________________________________________Date: Thu, 04 Jan 2007 18:11:58 -0800

Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: EyebrowsLuther,A reply to your last. I'm not offended by the changes. Guess I did use improper grammer skills and spellings but whoever signs these messages are responsible for the contents. Remember, these damn things circle the globe. However;I will in the future send all my Piet messages BEFORE my " old charter" delights. I would be very happy to meet you but as of now I don't have an airplane. But I will as soon as I get the nerve to haul a trailer behind my 89 Olds to Hawley, Minn. and bring back my new (old) 42 AeroncaTAC Defender/L-3. to warm, delightful, beautiful and politically correct Louisiana. Corky, I find it interesting that so many Piet builders and owners have become such wonderful mentors to those of us less skillful and knowledgeable, while you appear to spend your time trying to put down those of us that are trying to learn. True, I'm not highly skilled or knowledgeable but that doesn't make me stupid or fit to only make footstools or magazine holders. You may be a good (?) airplane builder but you really need to spend more time working on your people skills. The message you were trying to deliver really lost something in the tellling. The mentors I talk with tell me that they really get a lot of joy out of helping and teaching others. Probably even more that you get out of speading putdowns and discouragement. You might want to try mentoring, you just might like it.Haven't tried to accuse, embass or otherwise. But I hope I have encouraged you to try.Gene, an new Pieter ----- Original Message -----

Thanks Jack,What set my teeth on edge was that I had asked for advice on both where to "buy" and also how to "make" them. My thinking was that if someone on the list was making and selling them I may want to buy but then on the other hand if I could get instructions I might try my hand at making them. I noticed that when someone on the list was asking another to build a brass radiator for them, no one called him an idot. The message Corky was trying to send is correct, however, the way he presented it was really poor. His kind of comments are more likely to discourage someone from building, rather than encourage. As you know, I didn't build my Piet and I have a lot of catching up to do to be on the level of thoes that did build theirs and I will need a lot of mentoring.Thank you for your imput and I'm looking forward to any assistance you can provide.GenePS Corky's off my bad list, he called me a "Young Man" (and who said he didn't have any people skills?) ----- Original Message -----

I've just purchased a pair of Eye Brows from Czechoslovakia. Started creating templates but had plenty of other jobs. They seem very well made and include a spare metal template kit.Just fitting them at the moment.Price was 199 Euro's for the Set, about $245.00. Carriage and packing charges are on top and here in Europe I had to pay Value Added Tax.The whole lot delivered by UPS to me at a cost of $385.00Take a look: http://www.falconaircraft.cz/inzerce/in ... 90-0-200aI dealt with a guy called Marek Vala.
