I know we're not running a for sale list necessarily but I have a friend who justmoved to Idaho that does have a Corvair engine he dismantled and cleaned upand packed away that he will never use.he said he'd take a hundred bucks forit and he also has the Wynn manual for it.if anyone wants it give me an e-mailand I'll give his address.I am slowly getting my cowl fixed up for mine.RaymondRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Sun, 15 Aug 2010 08:36:30 -0500 (GMT-05:00)

Two coats Poly-u. One coat poly-fiber on parts where fabric would touch.I keep the plane hangared and yet somehow it sat through 3-4 monsoons a coupleof weeks ago (right next to Greg's).--------Kevin PurteeNX899KPAustin/Georgetown, TXRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Sun, 15 Aug 2010 09:59:08 -0400 (EDT)

Pietenpol-List: Corvair core

I just visited a Piet builder this morning (Ken) who very graciously spent almost2 hours showing me his incredible Piet. I'm astounded at the effort that goesinto building this plane. I don't know what it is but there's something aboutbuilding it yourself that interests me. It's like this guy that built (is building)Bishop's Castle. A one man show I had to go see myself. I want to putmy stamp on something like this. Figuring out what that long-term effort/passionwill be isn't easy. I'm planning my future out loud here. The craftiness of building the Piet is starting to sink in. Learning how to readthe 1930's plans kinda concerns me but I suppose everyone gets over the interpretationand figures it out. And after all, there's just a bunch of pieces ofwood that can be remade if needed.I know the plans call for a wood frame but would there be any significant issuesusing a combination of aluminum and wood? Do those 2 materials have any historybeing used well in a handcrafted plane? I know this would take the plane outof the traditional plans and not accepted as a Pietenpol. I'm just asking questionshere and to those that think that would be sacrilegious I understand.JamieRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Corvair core

I got my Corvair engine back to the hangar a few weeks ago. It's a running enginestraight out of the 65' with all the correct serial numbers listed in the W.W.rebuild manual. I felt it was a decent price at $150, the only kicker is Ihad to purchase the 2 engines the guy had to get that price. So if anyone needsa good core out here on the West coast I have an extra. Contact me off listif interested or know someone who is.BrianSLC-UTRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/img0 ... ______Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2012 14:40:31 -0700 (PDT)

I wouldnt sell the extra until you are sure you dont need it. I originally plannedto use Corvair power and disassembled 3 cores to get enough usable parts. At least wait till you get your best one apart. Sent from my iPhoneOn Jul 12, 2012, at 5:23 PM, "Pilot78" wrote:> > I got my Corvair engine back to the hangar a few weeks ago.
