Jack said it exactly right- really beautiful. On a slightly separate note, I have attached some info on how to burnish, or "fishscale" your own panels. I found this on another forum, and I saved it forfuture reference. I hope it helps someone.--------Semper Fi,TerryRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/fish ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: My Instrument Panel Layout

Scotty I made wooden mock ups as you can see. I have a home made CNC router andit is not a big deal to cut the panel. This is the third one. I think it is final.I found out that sitting in the cockpit the 2 1/4" instruments that wereon the bottom were very hard for me to read so a total revamp to what you see.Oil pressure and temp goes in the empty holes. When the time comes I will cutit from 1/8" aircraft plywood.I don't know who to give credit to for the drawing. It is not my art. Anyone knowwho did it?--------Jerry Dotson59 Daniel Johnson RdBaker, FL 32531Started building NX510JD July, 2009wing, tailfeathers done, fuselage rollingusing Lycoming O-235Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/prof ... __________

Jeff, I worried about this for about a year. Just guessing but I bet youhaven't hooked up the cables from the bellcrank to the elevator. When you do the weight of the elevator will take out the slack. At least itdid in mine.Skip> [Original Message]

I think that if you build to the plans, the longer instruments (turn/slip, DG ifyou want one, etc.) will become problematic with regard to the cables, at leastin some spots on the panel. If you're not mass-challenged (i.e. Bernard sized)you could extend the panel rearwards by 2 inches and still have enough roomto enter/exit the cockpit easily & that would probably be enough to keep allinstruments clear of the cables regardless of length & placement, althoughyou might still have to be creative about routing any plumbing out the back side.Of course, you should ask yourself what instruments you really need, I mean, noneof us are flying or intend to fly these beasts in anything other than day VFRconditions.Kip GardnerOn May 12, 2011, at 8:53 AM, bubbleboy wrote:> > Thank you guys! Congratulations Dave,I have one item I think you should consider. I was looking at you W&B and noticedthat you have the gross weight at 1250 pounds. If you were to lower it to1230 or lower before your inspection it would then be able to be flown by a SportPilot. Once it gets its AW with 1250 documented it cannot be changed. Asthe builder you can set the gross weight anywhere you would like.My two cents. Good luck and enjoy every flight.--------Scott LiefeldFlying N11MS since March 1972Steel TubeC-85-12Wire WheelsBrodhead in 1996Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: bellcrank geometry

i understand the aft cable issue...as i move the stick...no cables aft of the bellcrank the cables go from loose totight to loose againmy problem is up front... i see from mr Cuys photos that 2 inches of travel atthe location of his stop is all thats required and that would help but i'm wonderingif the bellcrank going overcenter is the problemi really thought this closed loop in the front was a no brainernow i feel like i'm missing a brain myselfjeffRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/cabl ... ______Date: Thu, 12 May 2011 08:06:49 -0700 (PDT)

Kip,Luckily I was able to finagle everything in there, but it is a very tight sqeeze, especially because I put those brackets to hold the front seat shoulder harness in there also. Wish I had some photos to post but I lost some stuff when my computer crashed.Dan HelsperPuryear, TN -----Original Message-----
