Steve,Not sure how up-to-date this information is, but it appears that there are somelocations in TX that sell ethanol-free gas;http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=TXBCRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Capstrip vs Spar material

I was told some time ago by ACS that capstrip is not required to meet the higherstandards of spar material. Some of the capstrip I received from them did notmeet the 6 annual rings per inch standard. I am about to place a wood orderwith them and wish to include the wood required to make the aileron spars.I believe I can get by with 1/2" by 2 1/2 stock. These dimension fall undertheir capstrip pricing. If you go to 1/2 by 2 3/4 material you have to buy sparstock. The fact that the aileron spars are called spars, should I order spar materialfor them?--------JohnRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Fri, 18 May 2012 13:48:53 -0500Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Capstrip vs Spar material

I called again today and the gal says the spar material is of higher grade butshe transferred me to the wood department and the gentleman there says its allcut from the same aircraft grade spruce. Good enough for now and I will orderthe capstrip. I will check it though when I get it :)--------John FrancisRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

There is not nearly as much stress on the ailerons as there is on the wing spars. I see no need to use spar stock for the ailerons. I didn't. Hope my ailerons pass inspection. C----- Original Message -----

Charles, your airplane will pass inspection. Since it is a homebuilt, you can make it from anything you want. The inspector only really cares about the paperwork.Dan HelsperPuryear, TN-----Original Message-----
