Pietenpol-List: Jake Schultz' table saw push block

I forgot to add one technical bit about 41CC... it has the "Improved" fuselage(13'-7"), so it is as much as 10" shorter than the "long" fuselage versions. The 1932 Flying & Glider Manual fuselage is 13'-5" long and the added 2" between"1932" and "Improved" are essentially in the first bay aft of the firewall.I think it's probably easier to build them lighter when they have the shorterfuselages.Mikee, you've probably answered this question hundreds of times, but which fuselagelength does your airplane have?--------Oscar ZunigaMedford, ORAir Camper NX41CC "Scout"A75 powerRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Jake Schultz' table saw push block

I just sat down to read my BPA Newsletter and among lots of other good stuff, noticedJake's nifty push block that rides on the rip fence of your table saw andkeeps fingers clear. I get the gist of it, but Jake- if you have any betterphotos of it, please point us to them. There seem to be lots of little customizationson the thing but the pictures in the Newsletter aren't detailed enoughto see what they are.Thanks.--------Oscar ZunigaMedford/Ashland, ORAir Camper NX41CC "Scout"A75 powerRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

Here are the photos I submitted... not as clear as I would like. The main point is to have the notch on the block pull the part through withoutyour hands being anywhere near the blade. The featherboards hold the workpieceagainst the fence. Various positioning of the featherboards can reduce the kickback at the end ofthe cut....--------Jake Schultz - curator,Newport Way Air Museum (OK, it's just my home)Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/push ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Jake Schultz' table saw push block

Interesting push block, Jake. At first glance I couldn't figure out what the black"blob" was. Then I realized that it was to show where the hand and thumbare to be positioned. But the real reason for my comment is regarding the second photo. The setup youhave is unconventional, and probably not a good idea. You've got two featherboardsin use - one of them is fine, but the second one is pressing the woodagainst the blade. Featherboards really should only be used to hold the stockagainst the fence BEFORE the stock reaches the blade, not at the blade, or afterthe cut.Bill C.Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

Yes Bill I agree.... The second featherboard is not the best idea..... I was justtrying to make the whole setup safer and you are right. The idea is to ifnda way to keep my hands away from the blade and the push block works well forthat. The rest of the setup could use some refinement......--------Jake Schultz - curator,Newport Way Air Museum (OK, it's just my home)Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________
