Plus two idlers, right? And the center spindle gets the belt three times? Not that it's given me any consternation (ya, I spelled that right though otherwords fit) over the years.Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: performance with C-85

Hi everyone....i am about to the point of covering my GN-1, but would like somefeedback on 'real world' number:...IE, T/O distance, climb rate, with the C-85,single and with passenger. I have 1800' (if i t/o to the east, and 1400 tothe west) before i run into the 75' georgia pines....Thanks, jamesRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

James, it largely depends on the weight. I've only flown one GN-1 and thatwas 35 years ago. What airfoil do you have?I kept my Pietenpol for years at a 2000' strip in North Carolina with talltrees at the end. I could get out fine by myself. I also never took apassenger with me, and would not consider doing so. It simply wouldn'tclimb fast enough to get over the trees. You'll probably be OK to fly solo from there. Get some experience flyingpassengers from long runways before trying it there. I would NOT use thatfield for your first test flights. Find a field with long runways and goodapproaches until you are comfortable with the airplane.Good Luck!Jack PhillipsNX899JPSmith Mountain Lake, Virginia-----Original Message-----

Hello all,Would appreciate any thoughts or considerations for what type of shutoff valveto attach to the bottom of an aluminum fuel tank. I understand Brass/bronze toaluminum is a no-no, but I dont see many aluminum valves and I think they wouldnot be as strong. Or is it better to weld on a fixed nozzle and put a shutoff valve somewhere in-line? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.Steve--------Stevewww.mypiet.comRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Fuel tank shut off valve
