Nice booth Ken, I did something similar for my Taylorcraft inside my hangar. Ibuilt 8x8 panels and then stretched plastic over each panel then screwed themtogether. After it was built I put down several paint tarps on the floor. Itworked out pretty good. Several guys on the airport have used it since, now itis disassemble and stored until I need it for the Piet.BrianSLC-UTRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/img0 ... __________

Was on short call that whole time, but no trips assigned... several days back toback, would rather have been in AMS!It's all covered now, but will try to put together a pic in the next day or twoas I retrofit the hinges on 2RN. When you coming to OSH again? Should have the motorhome there by Fri night (26th),a classic wood boat show on Sat in Neenah, then ferrying it down to OSH onSun to avail for the week (a 30' '64 CC Conny) if I can find a slip or dockspace. Wood boat, wood plane, guess I need a Morgan now!Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Painting, step 1

Very nice Ken. I am almost exactly at the same point. I spent today taking everythingoff the fuselage, firewall forward, getting ready to cover the fuselage.I have a friend that just built a large spray booth to paint his Cherokee. The plastic he used was heavy gauge construction polypropylene. It now sitsin my T hangar ready to be attached to a frame. Hopefully I will get it set upbefore Brodhead.See you in a few days!Rick SchreiberNX478RSSent from my iPadOn Jul 15, 2013, at 9:44 AM, Ken Bickers wrote:> Yesterday, I framed up a booth for doing some painting. Ken, that looks similar to the one I made big enough for a one-piece wing. I hung mine from the rafters. Larry Morlock----- Original Message -----

KenIt would be better to have your exhaust fan on the floor. The way it is, youare having the overspray climb up to the ceiling and cross the freshlypainted parts. The trick is to let the overspray fall down near the floor(gravity) and let it exit the booth without being deposited on anything elseexcept the floor (pulled up and across a wing will cause dry overspray). This also allows the air to move across the booth near the floor and not setup swirls and currents. In my paint booth for cars, the intake is in theceiling and the exhaust fan is in the floor in the middle of the booth sothe spray goes under the car and out. Always paint in the direction of fromthe intake to the exhaust to minimize overspray. Also be sure to stick a scrap piece of fabric (about 8"x8") over the back ofthe box fan in the center over the motor. This will keep most of theoverspray out of the fan motor. In Harold's homebuilt Pietenpol Paint Booth, our first box fan lasted about a month without the fabric and the secondlasted through painting 5 Pietenpols. My 2 centsBarryNX973BP
