If somebody wanted to get into the air quickly and inexpensively=2C here's an Ultra Piet that looks very clean and complete. Kawasaki 440 2-stroke=2C but it looks like it was built to come in under Part 103 which would mean no airman medical=2C no biennial flight review=2C and some inexpensive solo flying. Modesto=2C CA area:http://modesto.craigslist.org/for/5317774179.html I have no idea whose ultralight it is or who the seller is. Hmmm... Tough one. Im obviously biased!Gotta say though, spent one weekend at west point, SUPER steeped in tradition.Even a little more than annapolis. Was pretty cool.As far as post graduation. The army flies helos like the rest of the world drivesbusses, they get in and go. Everywhere. All the time. STUPID tactical. And honestly, thats the name of the game. Real warriors dont like fighting fromthe sidelines, they want to be tactical and the army offers that second onlyto the coast guard. However... Hehe... A warm meal and decent bed isnt horrible! In the end, its really not a tough question. GO NAVY!!!!Tools, who loves giving army guys a hard time, but sure as hell wont let a civilianguy or air force guy do it!Ps... So you know im not THAT biased. Army did great. It was theirs to lose.Bravo!Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: I need William Wynne's W & B data

Nice looking airplane. If someone does buy it I suggest taking the engine off and replacing it with aRotax. The 440's are known for breaking crankshafts. I have had one break whileflying behind a 440. The crankshaft breaks at the flywheel and locks the engineup. The only cure is to not use that engine. My three cents, but worth a $1,000.00--------Scott LiefeldFlying N11MS since March 1972Steel TubeC-85-12Wire WheelsBrodhead in 1996Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Mon, 14 Dec 2015 13:38:13 -0200Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: I need William Wynne's W & B data

Thankyou very much for your offer, I really appreciate it butI think there is far too much data for you to try to find in the oldmagazines.Doc Mosher and William Wynne have compiled it all into one bundlewhich is now available through Doc Mosher's website. The problemthat I encountered was when I emailed the website but received no reply. This made me wonder whether the W & B data was still available. However , several people have said that it is available so I will go ahead andmail a cheque !Cheers,PatriciaRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Ultra Piet

Just a little more information regarding the failure I occured. I was doing allthe test flying on a friends new Ultra-Pitts he had just finished building.Just as I got to the 8 hour mark on the engine and airframe, the crank broke. My friend was not a pilot yet so I was working on all the airspeed recommendationsfor the plane and documenting said numbers so he had something to referencewhen he finally got to fly it. The day the engine broke I happened to be doing pattern work at a local dirt strip.Working on best climb and approach speeds, etc. About 8 feet over the runwayI decided to add power and go around (no need at that point to touch down)I added power to go around and then the prop came to an abrupt stop. I stillhad runway under me, so the landing was uneventful. I coasted up to the baseof a tree, tied it down then called for a ride back to my home airport. The owner put a Hirth engine in the plane and it has never given him or I anotherproblem since. The airplane has many good fun flying hours on it now. I try to learn from others since I don't have enough time to do it all myself. This is why I share. Terry, the updated address I got from Doc Mosher was the P.O. box address. Thatis where I got my last set of articles from. At the time he wrote back sayinghe was in the process of doing the website (2015).Patricia, I just sent an envelope with the appropriate dollar amount and a notedescribing what Articles I was interested in. Snail mail was the "fastest" response.Although nothing is really fast when it comes to the piet. The W&B packetis mostly articles, and has alot of information. However due to so many variationswith individual builder it requires a bit of extraction to get what youneed.--------David McBride Rochester, NY dmcb84(at)hotmail.comRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/136_ ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: I need William Wynne's W & B data

David,Thanks for the update. Snail mail is slow enough as it is, so getting the bestaddress definitely helps.--------Semper Fi,Terry HandAthens, GARead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Sat, 19 Dec 2015 14:02:04 -0800
